With the rise of PVC, the brand broke away from bourgeois conventions, becoming a flagbearer for a changing society. The Sun sandal alone represents an entire era.
Saved in the early 2000s, when the Humeau-Beaupréau Group acquired the molds from “La Sarraizienne,” the company that had made the beach sandal until then, Méduse remains a French icon known across the globe. The brand has since expanded, offering boots, booties, sneakers, and even ventured into textiles with a line of t-shirts and sweaters.

For five generations, the Humeau-Beaupréau Group has been committed to local and respectful production. Most of Méduse’s products are created and manufactured in our workshop in Maine-et-Loire, adhering strictly to the specifications set by our company.
Our goal? To respect the environment, focus on our customers’ concerns, and minimize our ecological footprint.
Material Choices
Two key words for Méduse: safety and harmlessness. The brand is committed to complying with the strictest European standards for transparency and environmental responsibility. Our products are made from phthalate-free, 100% recyclable plastics. To reduce overconsumption, each pair of Méduse shoes is designed to last for over 15 years. We also stay closely attuned to the latest advancements made by our suppliers to source the most planet-friendly materials. For instance, hemp, used for products from the Plasticana brand, has now been introduced into the Sun sandal production.
