Our CSR Approach

Always rooted in the company’s values, the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) commitment is reflected in the intrinsic missions of each brand within the Group. Free from the pressures of shareholders or external financiers, the Humeau-Beaupréau Group provides its employees with a guarantee of trust, independence, and respect for people. Some employees have been with the company for over 42 years in Beaupréau-en-Mauges, a strong testament to the preservation of local and rural jobs!

« Our values and daily operations are linked to our status as a family business. How is this reflected? Through the desire to ensure the longevity of the company, a commitment to finding a new shared vision with our 235 employees, and the preservation of our spirit and our presence in a rural setting. »

Anne-Céline Humeau

CEO – Humeau-Beaupréau Group

Product Safety and the Environment

In line with this transparency goal, all PVC products are manufactured from phthalate-free plastics and are 100% recyclable up to seven times.

  • Each year, the Group receives approximately 1,000 tons of PVC, produced locally.
  • To reduce overconsumption, each pair intended for individual consumers (excluding professionals) has an estimated lifespan exceeding 15 years.
  • The Group continuously monitors progress made by suppliers to source the most environmentally friendly raw materials. For example, hemp, used for products under the Plasticana brand, is featured in the Sun sandal and in ankle boots. From the 1,500 kg of hemp-based PVC used annually, 9,000 pairs are produced.

Recycling

As a manufacturer of leather and PVC products, recycling and environmental preservation are paramount. In addition to commitments certified by the Innoshoe® Charter, the Humeau-Beaupréau Group is highly engaged in recycling and innovation.

  • Within the factory, 100% of PVC scraps and offcuts are reprocessed.
  • Each year, 100 tons of recycled PVC are reintegrated into the production cycle, resulting in 30,000 pairs of shoes produced from repurposed waste.
  • The Group’s ambition is to commit to virtuous production and aim for zero waste. Since 2022, with the Baudou brand, the Group has taken this commitment even further.
  • Through the “CircularBoots” project, the goal is to facilitate the collection of boots by providing collection bins and expanding the recycling capabilities for end-of-life products.
  • Collected boots and clogs are washed, depolluted, analyzed, and sorted. The recovered plastic is reinjected into production within the Group’s factories.
